Scholarships below are organized by the due date in RED. It is the student’s responsibility to be aware of all deadlines, especially where the scholarship is to be submitted. Some scholarships are turned in to the AHS Guidance Office, but the majority are submitted online or by mail by the student. Scholarships without an application link are not currently active. Any student that needs a transcript to mail with a scholarship can request one from Mrs. Deppen in the guidance office. Expired scholarships and future scholarships, will not have an activated link.

October Deadlines
Heisman High School ScholarshipSubmit online by: October 18 at 3 p.m. PT / 6 p.m. ET.
The Heisman high school scholarship program is looking for senior athletes that excel on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. Eligibility begins with maintaining a GPA of 3.0 (B average) or better. Applicants also need to be proven leaders and role models within their school and community and must perform in at least one of the 47 school sponsored sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games or the National Federation of State High School Associations. |
Voice of Democracy Scholarship Submit by: Midnight on October 31st
Students must record an original 3-5 minute essay on an audio CD/Flash Drive. Items to be included in the submission are CD, typed essay, and application (see link). Elk's Most Valuable StudentSubmit online by: November 15th
The Elks National Foundation (ENF) awards 500 four-year scholarships based on academics, leadership, and financial need. National awards range from $1,000 per year to $12,500 per year. The Elks scholarship is open to high school seniors looking to complete a 4 year Bachelor’s program. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. Equitable Excellence ScholarshipSubmit online by: December 17th
The Equitable Excellence Scholarship is open to high school seniors attending college in the fall of 2023. Students who have made an outstanding achievement related to reducing risk in areas such as financial, environment, health and/or emergency preparedness or an achievement around empowering society to better face risk, are encouraged to apply. National FFA ScholarshipsSubmit Online by: Jan 11th
Advisor/Sponsor deadline: Jan 18th Scholarships are sponsored by businesses and individuals through the National FFA Foundation and are given for a wide variety of experiences, career goals and higher education plans. The selection process takes into account the whole student - FFA involvement, work experience, Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), community service, leadership skills and academics. More than 1,500 scholarships are available with just one application to complete for eligibility! |
East Central Ohio MensaSubmit online by:11:59PM (CST) on Jan 15th
Eligible students are those who will be pursuing a degree program in an accredited U.S. college or university during the academic year following their application. There is an essay portion, no more than 550 words. |
JFK Profile in Courage EssaySubmit online or by mail by: Jan 14th
Students must write an essay describing and analyzing an act of political courage by a US elected official who served during or after 1917, the year of John F. Kennedy's birth. There are first and second place prizes as well as five finalists and eight semifinalists. |
Firelands Electric ScholarshipQualified students should submit the application by mail. Applications must be received in the Firelands Electric Office by 4:00PM on January 21st
Every year, Firelands Electric awards $10,000 in scholarships to outstanding high school seniors who have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. The top five boys and top five girls receive awards from Firelands Electric. The top two winners are also eligible to compete for additional scholarships in the state competition at Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives in Columbus. |
February Deadlines
Elks Legacy AwardSubmit online by:11:59 (CST) Feb. 7th(11:59AM Central Time) January 31st
The ENF Legacy Awards scholarship program awards 250 college scholarships worth $4,000 each to the children and grandchildren of Elks members. Applicants must be the children and grandchildren of dues-paying Elks members who are high school seniors, going on to college, and exhibit the values of the Elks National Foundation: knowledge, charity, community service, and integrity. |
Ashland Musical Club ScholarshipMust be received by February 25th
Audition Date: March 13th You must provide your own accompanist The Ashland Musical Club will award a $500 scholarship to an Ashland County student planning to study music at the college level. An audition is required as part of the selection process. The applicant must be a high school senior who is a resident of Ashland County. The applicant must plan to study music at the college level but DOES NOT need to major in music in order to be eligible for the scholarship. Selection will be based upon musical ability and ambition, financial need, and information provided on the application. |

Must be POSTMARKED no later than March 1st The OAPSE Memorial Scholarship Foundation Program is available to any graduating high school senior whose parent or legal guardian is a member in good standing of OAPSE and who intends to enroll in a full-time degree program in any 2 or 4 year accredited university, college, business, or technical school. Scholarships of $2500.00 are awarded to one applicant in each of the ten OAPSE districts in the state. |
Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Foundation ScholarshipMust be RECEIVED in mail by March 1st
The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Foundation offer a renewable $1,000 scholarship to students with a 2.5 GPA (or higher), Ohio resident or a student planning to attend an Ohio university or technical school and pursuing a degree in natural gas or the oil industry. Jason Jakubowski Memorial ScholarshipSubmit to AHS Guidance by March 15th
Jason Jakubowski, class of 1989, was an outstanding student at Ashland High School. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1993 with high honors, and was well on his way to reach his dream of becoming an astronaut. He was tragically killed while flying a mission in his F-18. His family has continued to provide the funding for this scholarship in loving memory of Jason. |
Roosevelt Robinson ScholarshipSubmit to AHS Guidance by March 15th
The ROOSEVELT ROBINSON HONORARY SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP was established in 2004 following the induction of Roosevelt Robinson into the Ashland County Sports Hall of Fame. As a further tribute to him and to reward a graduating Ashland High School athlete, the AHS Class of ’66 began funding this annual $500 scholarship. On July 7, 2011, Rosey died and the scholarship was renamed the ROOSEVELT ROBINSON MEMORIAL SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP. Open to all AHS senior athletes. |
Carlos Weber Memorial ScholarshipSubmit online by: March 15th
This scholarship offered through the Wayne County Community Foundation was established in 2000 after the untimely death of Carlos at the age of 23 from injuries suffered in a construction accident. Applicant must be an Ashland or Wayne County graduating high school senior enrolling at The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute (OSU-ATI) or an enrolled OSU-ATI student who has at least one more full-time year of classes. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded. |
Horatio Alger AssociationSubmit online by: March 15th
The program assists high school junior students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. The scholarships are funded by Horatio Alger Members who, like the Scholars, have experienced challenges but ultimately overcame them to become successful business and civic leaders. Students must plan to earn a Bachelor’s degree and demonstrate critical financial need. There are scholarships offered at the state and national levels. |

The Ohio Gas Association is pleased to offer a scholarship to students who plan to pursue a career in the natural gas industry or related field (general business) through an accredited 2 or 4 year program. Dr. M.M. and Phyllis Sanders Memorial ScholarshipSubmit to AHS Guidance by April 22nd
A highly respected English teacher at Ashland High School, Mrs. Sanders twice was honored by a graduating senior class (1963, 1977) as its yearbook dedicatee. She took an active interest in her students and kept in touch with many long after their graduation. She and her husband Merwin were avid sports fans and rarely missed an AHS football or basketball game, home or away. Her extracurricular activities included serving as cheerleading advisor. This scholarship is for $700 and is for students majoring in education. |
Ashland City Teachers Association ScholarshipSubmit: AHS Guidance by April 22nd
The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage young people interested in becoming teachers and to aid sons and/or daughters of ACTA members who are attending college, regardless of career selection. Selection criteria includes students who are children of ACTA members and majoring in education. Additional students may be chosen if criteria are not met such as if there are no education majors, or children of ACTA members. The ACTA committee reserves the right to not award the scholarship if candidates do not meet selection criteria. |
Ashland Evening Lions Grants-In-Aid ScholarshipSubmit to AHS Guidance by April 29th
The Ashland Evening Lions offer three grants-in-aid to Ashland High School seniors intent on pursuing further education. The grants memorialize club members who have died.Two grants of $650.00 will be issued each year to a graduating student of Ashland High School. A third grant of $650.00 is reserved for the child or grandchild of an Ashland Evening Lions member, which may or may not be attending Ashland High School. If there are no applications from the child or grandchild of a member then the third grant will not be awarded. |

The Sarah Copus Chapter of the D.A.R. will award a $200.00 scholarship to a senior from Ashland County attending an Ashland County School (AHS & ACWHCC). Ohio Assoc. of Public School Employees Local #233 ScholarshipSubmit to AHS Guidance by May 2nd
This year, Local #233 of the Ohio Association of Public School Employees of Ashland, Ohio will present a scholarship in the amount of $400.00 to a qualifying senior who is planning to further his or her education. This senior does not have to go to Ashland High School. Only OAPSE members’ children or grandchildren will be eligible for this scholarship. The scholarship money will be paid directly to the school of the student’s choice. The winner of this award will be recommended by a scholarship committee consisting of members of Local #233. Financial need, character, and probable success will be the basis for awarding this scholarship. |
